I am in the process (as of July 2017) of getting an Amateur Radio Technician's License, and getting in to Ham radio. While morse code is no longer required, it seems a useful skill to have, and fun to learn, so I'm learning that as well. I'm using the 11 lessons presented at The Ham Whisperer, and finding that to be both easy to follow, and effective.

It also occurred to me that understanding Morse Code is much like understanding any other "spoken" language, and that it might be useful to drill things like the most commonly used words to improve fast "copy". To that end, I've taken the top 100 most commonly used words in written English and transcribed them into Morse.

I got the word list from http://www.empire-skola.sk/data/USR_042_IMAGES/The_100_Most_Common_Written_Words_in_English.pdf. According to some, the 100 most common words comprise 50% of all written material. The first 300 make up about 65%.

Once I get my license, I'll start studying for the General and Expert exams, and look into volunteering with my local CERT or other emergency organization.
